To properly promote a web site you have to have the right tools.

Disclaimer: I have downloaded these tools to my Power Spec running Windows 98 and my Dell running XP Pro. I make no guarantee how the software will work on your computer. As always make sure you know what you are installing before you install it. I strongly suggest you use Add Remove Programs Wizard under the Control Panel and read the licensing for every thing you install on your machine and when in doubt "ABORT", I have, I cannot afford to be without my computer which is my lively hood.

Google Toolbar (Freeware) Alexa Toolbar (Freeware) LinkCrafter (Freeware) LinktoLink (Shareware $34.95) eZine Assistant (Freeware) Forte Agent (Shareware $29.00) Website Statistics (Part of Hosting Plan)
Good Usenet access (Through ISP or purchased separately on monthly basis for around $5 a month)
Cooperation of an intelligent Webmaster

And yes there are other products out there that do a myriad of wondrous things. I have spent several hundred dollars buying software that with a mere click of the button did all the work for you, yeah right..... Instead of spent, I should have said wasted. Marketing a web site requires the human touch. If all that was required was to click a button everybody would be number one. Start with these items, learn to use them and then drop a few hundred dollars on "the good stuff". Personally having used "the best" marketing software on the web I finally wised up and realized no software will replace my judgment. The software is used to collect information, the grunt work is yours.

Google Toolbar:
I could cut and paste the information that Google has at the download site explaining the features of thier toolbar but I am not. I will say that I could not do without my Google toolbar. If I won the lottery tomorrow morning I would still have to have my Google toolbar. Whether you do marketing or not Google is the best search engine on the web and the toolbar makes searching easier.

Alexa Toolbar:
This toolbar gives Page Ranking and more site information than you will need. Well worth the money.

LinkCrafter:
LinkCrafter is meant to allow you to find web pages that have similar content and have email addresses. The program then will allow you to create reciprical link pages. It automates the task of contacting other web site administrators. The program is not easy to work but if you work with it and follow the instructions step by step the rewards are well worth the journey.

LinktoLink:
LinktoLink allows you to keep track of the reciprical links you have. If a reciprical link to your site is ever broken this program will let you know and send a message requesting the link be repaired. It also will be set up to email templates to offer to exchange recipriical links.

eZine Assistant:
This little program is used to format your plain text email newsletter.
